There are some walks which are requested time and time again and this is one of those.
Departing from the sleepy village of Santa Agnes, guided by Etienne, we leave the church behind us and head into the forest following the tracks originally used by men making whitewash, where we can discover some of their old cal (lime) ovens which are still amazingly intact.
Let’s continue to meander through pine scented forests, foraging for herbs, rosemary, thyme and lavender before emerging on a headland with an incredible view point looking both north and south along the coast. From this 300m high vantage point with the azure blue sea below us, we can see the tip of Es Vedra and on a clear day as far as mainland Spain.

From just outside the village of San Mateu, your guide Roger will lead you on this walk that just keeps giving! As we head upwards past the terraced fields and into the woods, every few metres discloses more of the vista until we reach the adventurous part. Here we clamber over some boulders to reach a breathtaking viewpoint looking down to Cala d’Albarca. Pods of Dolphins have been spotted here so perhaps we will be lucky!
We then loop back to the start point along a quiet camino with more amazing views, and then we head down, down, down an old abandoned road to a spectacular natural stone bridge! We will pause to take photos of this amazing sight, before heading back up, up, up to where we came from.

Our Wednesday´s Are PURE walks continue this week with PURE History.
Come and embark on a journey into the past with our guide Etienne! 2000 years ago the temple on Cape Llibrell was built, and people made the pilgrimage to climb up to the temple to worship their gods and bring offerings.
We will follow their traces, learn about how ancient societies worked, and look at an even older archeological site before arriving at the ruins of the temple with their awe-inspiring 360 degree views! Here Etienne talkes about the discoveries of the site: blood and proof of a fire!

Ibiza 4 Day Challenge
To circumnavigate the island in 4 days by using mountain bikes, kayaks and walking is an incredible Challenge that will test your fitness levels, get your adrenaline flowing and guarantee lots of fun! Including transfers, initiation & briefing, most food – all home made and nutritionally balanced – water, overnight stays, professional guides for kayaking, mountain biking and walking, celebration dinner and fully supported all the way.
Day 1
The 4 day adventure begins in the old town of Ibiza – the medieval UNESCO heritage site with its enchanting, winding cobbled streets. You will be kitted out with the latest top quality mountain bikes and soon be cycling with ease out of the old town and passing the stunning scenery of the salt flats of Las Salinas before following the coast with a few stops for a swim and lunch. You will complete 65kms by the time you reach Cala Conta where the kayaks will be waiting for us. It’s then a 10km kayak (approx 3 hours) including the discovery of some wonderful caves before relaxing in a local hostal for the night exchanging on the days experiences and fun.
Day 2
Waking early to a lovely breakfast, we’ll load up the kayaks with supplies and head off on a gruelling 30km adventure by sea (approx 9 hours). We’ll head up the west coast of Ibiza under the gaze of spectacular 350m cliffs and bays only accessible from the sea. The first place we’ll land will be after about 4 hours kayaking and we’ll take a well-earned rest and enjoy a much needed lunch in a beautiful, secluded `C` shaped bay only accessible by foot and from the sea. After lunch we’ll continue passing amazing vistas and some massive caves, completing the day in the north of Ibiza staying in a lovely hostal where we’ll take well deserved hot showers and dinner will be waiting for us.
Day 3
This day is a wonderful hiking day of 25kms. We’ll be hugging the sea around the ‘crystal coast’ where you can find Ibiza’s very own crystals – just the thing to energize yourself – then we’ll continue on, passing ancient terraced farmland and secluded bays (for swimming!) along the way. Lunch will be taken under a rare old oak tree then we’ll keep going, past the most northerly point of Ibiza. At this point we’ll be heading south – and homebound! We’ll spend this night in a lovely hotel on the coast.
Day 4
After filling up with breakfast we’ll get back on our familiar mountain bikes for the 50kms homeward stretch. You will be waved and cheered on by people following your progress online via the live GPS feed – just what you need to spur you on to the end! We’ll pass through some towns today and then head back into the forests with the lovely scent of pine trees all around us. Down ancient lanes, passing incredible modern villas and eventually, with the sight of Ibiza old town coming into view, you’ll know the 4 day challenge is almost complete. A cheering crowd and Champagne corks popping will welcome you at the finishing line! But being Ibiza, the adventure doesn’t end there.
It’s a quick shower and change before going out for a celebration dinner and maybe onwards to one of the infamous clubs…
Please note that all our event prices are not including flights to and from Ibiza.

Make your own Hierbas – the famous local liquor of Ibiza!
Together with our guide Grant, we go on a one hour walk in the countryside near San Joan to collect all the wonderful herbs that make up this tasty digestif drink. It’s a lovely route with ancient little paths and roads that are perfect to collect your herbs from. We will finish at our founder Toby’s place to make the bottles of Hierbas with the herbs you’ve collected.
After preparing the Hierbas, you have to wait 3 months for it to be ready to drink!
You can just join the walk if you don’t want to make the Hierbas, in which case you only book yourself for the walk. If you want to make your own Hierbas, you add that to your booking… the cost includes the bottle and alcohol required to make the hierbas.

This is a shorter version of our Es Vedra route… we’re excited to take you on this wonderful walk to get a spectacular view of one of the most iconic places in Ibiza! Kyle will take you on this amazing route where you walk to some of Ibiza’s highest cliffs with stunning views of the mystical Es Vedra.
We walk through paths in the forest and vine groves. We pass olive, fig and carob trees, foraging for herbs such as rosemary, thyme and lavender along the way.
We then take a 30 minute steep climb up to the highest point, 400m above sea level, bursting through the trees for an incredible view of Es Vedra, where you can soak in the magnetic energy of the magical rock. We then head down and pass the famous ´eye´of Es Vedra. It´s then a fairly short downhill walk back to the start point.

Ankhana will take you on this awesome coastal walk from Cala Comte beaches to the fascinating Time & Space installation, or Ibiza Henge as it’s sometimes called.
The thirteen giant monoliths were commissioned and erected by the billionaire founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberté. The pillars are part of a series of 51 stone sculptures across 16 countries, by world renowned Australian artist Andrew Rogers, titled “Rhythms of Life”. It’s said to represent the motion of the stars and planets around the sun – or is it? Perhaps it’s a beacon calling out to say hi to UFOs?! Hear the full story from Ankhana; you won’t want to miss this opportunity to decide for yourself!
Along the way we pass a rave cave and a mysterious set of doors… much food for thought!
As we head back to the start point we will pause to enjoy another wonderful Ibiza sunset.

Around The Island Adventure
Walk the entire coastline of Formentera 30th May-02nd June 2024
Staying in Hotels, fully supported, only carry your day pack.
The Story
In 2016, in typical Toby fashion, the founder of Walking Ibiza created his adventure and walked around the entire coastline of Formentera without food, fasting for 4 days & walking alone, to see if he could discover a route to inspire groups, and there it was! Due to the many requests and after this extraordinary hike we will now introduce the Formentera Around the Island Adventure next to our Around The Island Adventure Ibiza.
Figures
- Approx total kilometers: 86.
- Approx kilometers per day: 22.
- Longest days of walking: 22.
- Shortest day of walking: 18.
- Approx hours of walking per day: 6-7 hours.
The History
The Around The Island Adventure follows a route made by Toby and attaches to the coastline as close as possible, all 86km’s. This long-distance walking route is totally stunning, with wonderful views and walks along the World famous white sandy beaches. The highest point of the island is only 300m so there are less hills than the other Balearic islands making this a great fairly relaxed walking Adventure.
The Itinerary
Formentera is the smallest of the Balearic island, making it a perfect 4 day walking route. The walk takes place over 4 days and 3 nights. Each day offers a different perspective of the island from towering cliffs to peaceful secluded beaches, forests, towns, long beaches which are the most breath taking! The whole island has little development so you really get the feel of being on a desert island on many occasions.
We start walking from the port of Sabina straight off the boat on day 1 and walk a clockwise direction. The nights are spent in a central hotel with transfers in and out on each day. Lovely breakfasts, lunches and dinners are provided.
Useful Info
The Adventure is fully supported with a great guide to lead the way. During the days you will only need to carry your day bags containing mainly water, snacks and packed lunch.
This is a once in a lifetime experience that only a few groups has achieved so far. Most people say an Around the Island Adventure has changed their life in some way, being out in nature, one foot in front of the other, disconnecting from technology, and fully experiencing all that Formentera, and life, has to offer.
The cost and dates
The price for the Around the Island Adventure Formentera in May 2024 is €940 for shared room (own room 280€ supplement) which includes boat crossing, transfers, initiation and briefing, breakfast, packed lunches & dinners, water, overnight stays in hotels for 3 nights, 24 hrs fully guided.
Please note that all our event prices are not including flights to and from Ibiza.
